EVERY WOMAN IS A DAUGHTER AND WE ARE ALL KEEPERS
I Am My Daughter’s Keeper (IAMDK) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing the tools and resources necessary to strengthen mother daughter relationships nationwide. Founded by Sommer Walker-Davis and Tiffany Ellis of Miami, FL., IAMDK uses it’s platform to promote the individual and collective growth of mothers and daughters by leveraging the power of intentional dialogue and creating consistent opportunities for development. Both Sommer and Tiffany are mothers of daughters and having faced their own challenges, understand the need for the work they’ve embarked upon. Their goal is to transform the narrative around mother-daughter relationships, making it one of love, support and understanding versus what is otherwise described as contentious and in some cases toxic.
Our organization acknowledges that there are women who don’t necessarily have daughters and may not have biological children but through various capacities, play a vital role in the lives of young women. I Am My Daughter’s Keeper recognizes that connection between young ladies and their mothers/caregivers or adult mentors and seeks to strengthen and support their efforts.

MEET
Sommer, Samahra, and Savannah
As a wife and mother of two young daughters (Savannah, 7 and Samahra, 12) Sommer Davis has taken her passion for helping others and personal development and co-founded, I Am My Daughter’s Keeper (IAMDK). After experiencing tense times with her 12 year old daughter, she began doing the work to figure out how their relationship could be strengthened and transformed.
Realizing that the struggles with Samahra wouldn’t be a quick fix but instead a consistent effort, she sought counseling and they began communicating in ways that led to better understanding of themselves and each other.
In discussing her experiences with other mothers who shared similar stories, her desire to develop a village of support was created. Samahra joins her mom as a founding member of IAMDK and participates in panel discussions during the IAMDK Brunch.
Helping to create a space for women and girls to be heard and healed, is a part of Sommer’s life’s work. For her to be effective in her work it was essential that she start at home so that she could help from a place of experience and authenticity.
MEET
Tiffany and Aolani
Tiffany Ellis is a wife, mother of two and the Co-Founder of I Am My Daughter’s Keeper. Having given birth to her daughter, Aolani (Founding Member) at the age of 17, Tiffany struggled as a teen mom to complete high school and create a life plan for her and her daughter.
After graduating high school, Tiffany moved to Tallahassee, FL to attend Florida A&M University and had to co-parent with Aolani’s father, who became the custodial parent while she pursued her collegiate studies. Although they remained connected, the years apart resulted in familial tensions, feelings of abandonment and a strained mother-daughter relationship. Post graduation, Tiffany worked to deepen that connection with her daughter by moving back to South Florida but life became more difficult for the two.
At the age of 13, Aolani moved back in with her mother and by the age of 14 a domestic dispute almost destroyed their family, resulting in felony charges being filed against Tiffany and Aolani being removed from her mom’s home and sent back to Florida where she lived with family until she completed high school. Through years of therapy, self-reflection, communication, forgiveness and healing, the two have been able to overcome the circumstances of their situation and are enjoying the benefits of a thriving mother-daughter relationship.
Aolani is now a freshman attending Florida A&M University and the two have resolved to help other mothers and daughters overcome any challenges they may encounter as they work through life together.
